Cambridge International AS & A Level History (9489) explores the past from a wide range of perspectives — social, economic, political and cultural. Students develop transferable skills including the ability to evaluate historical evidence, analyse primary and secondary sources, construct coherent and well-supported arguments, and assess different historical interpretations.

The course is structured around four papers that develop different historical skills: source analysis, extended essay writing, interpretation of historiography, and in-depth study of specific periods and topics. Students learn to think critically about cause and consequence, change and continuity, historical significance and the nature of historical interpretation itself.

Cambridge International A Level History provides excellent preparation for university courses in history, politics, philosophy, law, international relations and the broader humanities. It is widely recognised for developing the analytical and communication skills that universities value highly.
